5 New AED’s
During the regular City Council meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Council approved the purchase of 5 AED’s (Defibrillator) at the request of the Fire Department. These new lifesaving devices will be stationed at City Hall, Aquatic Center, Gym, Baseball Field, and Softball field. The cost is $10,875. The fire department was approved for hose and ladder testing for a cost of $2685 and the purchase of new fire hose in the amount of $5520 and surplus 3 AED’s. Fire Chief Robert Pace asked the Council to adopt a new ordinance that created a Lifetime Membership for Fire Fighters who have been serving the City for 20 years or longer and the Council concurred.
The Council approved $6500 for the So-Cool program and granted use of the pool. Joan Richardson and Jeff Chester were reappointed to the Zoning Adjustment Board for a 3 year term. The Council adopted a resolution granting the City permission to apply to ADECA for a CDBG Grant and approved Goodwyn, Mills, Cawood as the engineering firm to over see the CDBG Grant project and approved the Citizen Participation Program for the Grant with a public hearing set for May 28 in the at 5:30 pm in the Community Center. The CDBG Grant will be to cover the drainage issue in the Bay Springs Community.
The Council approved $750 for the purchase of ammunition for police department training and the purchase of GPS Tracking devices for the Police Department Vehicles.
The next City Council meeting is set for June 9th at 5 PM in the Council Chambers.
