During the Cedar Bluff Town Council Meeting Monday afternoon, Mayor Bill Warren recognized the Cedar Bluff School’s girls and boys Track and Field Teams for a great year. He read a proclamation for each team designating May 11, 2026 as Cedar Bluff School Cross Country Team Day in Cedar Bluff. He also did the same for the Boys Cross Country Team with both Proclamations being presented to the School Principal, Torey McDaniel. Each Team member was presented a certificate by the Mayor.
The Council approved the minutes from April 13th and a special called meeting on April 20th along with the financial report for March.
Fire Chief Kimmons gave the activity report for the Department during the month of April. There were a total of 28 calls answered with 8 calls being medical related. There were 4 structural fire calls, 1 motor vehicle accident, 3 contents and room fires, a confined cooking fire, responded to a downed power line. Police Chief Jeremy Stepps gave the Police Report for April with the department patrolling 14,289 miles, issued 281 warnings, 163 Tickets issued, made 11 felony arrests, 16 misdemeanor arrests, 11 drug cases, served 9 warrants, issued 46 incident and offense reports, interviewed 5 suspects and worked 67 hours traffic overtime. Building Inspector Mark Perry gave the report for April, with an old block building being torn down on Old Highway 9, issued 12 building permits, 1 sign permit, 16 business license and 13 camper permits.
The Council appointed two people to the Utilities Board, they were Adam McNabb and Mattie Williams was reappointed to the Board.
The Next Cedar Bluff Town Council Meeting will be Monday June 8 with work session at 5 and meeting at 6 pm.
