From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden:
FORT PAYNE, Ala.- On Friday, April 10th, 2026, at approximately 9:20AM a Dekalb County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for Failure to Stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 117 and Hwy 11 in Hammondville. During the course of the traffic stop, probable cause was found to search the vehicle for firearms and narcotics. The Dekalb County Drugs and Major Crimes Unit responded to the traffic stop and recovered marijuana, three firearms, and a large sum of US Currency from the vehicle andits occupants. One of the firearms was found to be stolen out of Madison County, Alabama, and another firearm was found to be altered with an illegal “Glock Switch”. At the conclusion of the investigation, the individuals listed below were arrested and charged with the following charges:
MADISON PERRIE FISHER (20 of Huntsville)- Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Receiving Stolen Property 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Addict in Possession of Firearm.
MAURICE DEMOND WILLIAMS (20 of Huntsville)- Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Occupant of Motor Vehicle Prohibited from Knowingly Touching Loaded Handgun Except as Directed, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Menacing and Addict in Possession of Firearm.
CALEB ALEXANDER PERDUE (21 of Huntsville)- Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Possession/Use of Parts used to Convert a Pistol into a Machine Gun, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Addict in Possession of Firearm.
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident:“Thanks to the deputy’s awareness and professionalism, this routine traffic stop resulted in taking illegal drugs, stolen property and firearms off the streets. Our deputies will continue to stay vigilant and committed to protecting the citizens of DeKalb County.”
