Leesburg Town Council Meeting

During the Leesburg Town Council Meeting Monday afternoon, a Public Hearing was approved to get the Public’s input on the sale of Hemp Products in drink form at the local liquor store. The meeting date has not yet been set but will be announced in the next few days according to Mayor Brandy Pierce. When the date is set, the meeting will be held in the FEMA Building.

The Council approved internet installation for two security cameras and approved an America 250 Mural to be painted on a building in the Park to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. The Cost is $2500 and is to be paid for with an Alabama 250 Grant.

Mayor Pierce told the Council he had checked on widening of Roberts Street. He said with the Town doing the work the cost of materials would be $5000 and he had the Permit from the Alabama Power Shoreline Management for the work to be done. The Council approved the proposal.

Mayor Pierce said Leesburg Day is set for September 12th in the Park.

The next Leesburg Town Council Meeting will be on June 1st at 5 pm in the Council Chambers.
