Fort Payne Police Arrest Driver After Early-Morning Pedestrian Accident

Fort Payne, Ala. — An 18-year-old Fort Payne man was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the road on 45th Street Northeast.

According to Fort Payne Assistant Chief Lee Traylor, the incident happened around 4:52 a.m. in front of 100 45th Street Northeast. The victim was transported by DeKalb Ambulance Service to Erlanger Hospital for treatment.

Police say the driver, identified as 22-year-old Kedrich D. Anderson of Fort Payne, initially left the scene but later returned. Following a preliminary investigation, Anderson was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, duty to give information and render aid, and driving under the influence of a combined substance.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police say additional charges may be filed.
