Centre City Council Moving Forward With New City Hall and Gym Update

Centre- The Centre City Council took steps to secure the new City Hall being built on East Main Street in Centre during Tuesday afternoon’s meeting. The Council approved the purchase of security cameras and monitoring for the new facilities. The cameras for the City Hall is $35,037.60 with a monthly fee of $150 for monitoring and maintenance. The cameras for the Gym is $19,724.37 with a monthly fee of $194.85 which is more than the City Hall due to increased number of persons with access codes for entry, according to Building Inspector Raymond Matthews.

The Raintree Subdivision paving project was approved for completion at a cost of $78,290 and new garbage cans were approved for purchase in the amount of $11,140.

The Council approved declaring two older fire engines as surplus to be sold and waived the next City Council meeting which is scheduled for Election Day. The municipal election will be held in the area where the Council normally meets.

The minutes from the previous meeting and bills for payment were approved.

The next Centre City Council meeting will be on September 9th at 5 pm in the Council Chambers.
