Centre- You may have noticed a dramatic difference recently at Cherokee Memory Gardens. It has been receiving a facelift of sorts, as groups have been working hard to clean up, improve, and restore the facility. WEIS Radio Covered the announcement from Dr. Jeremy Deaton that a project, Holy Spirit’s Restoration Project, Graves Into Gardens, was set to be completed by Easter Sunday. The project, a partnership between Dr. Jeremy Deaton, Breaking Chains International, and Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home looked yesterday to be ready to meet that goal. Dr. Deaton was kind enough to take a few minutes and tell us about the project as volunteers continued their work.

On Wednesday, around 50 volunteers were there working to meet that goal. They were busy on mowers, with weed-eaters, rakes, leaf-blowers, golf carts, and other tools spread across the grounds. A photo gallery is available at the end of the story.
Chief Robert Pace and members of the Centre Fire Department was also on hand, preparing to raise a new American Flag over the grounds. The old pole had needed some repair, and the department brought their ladder truck out to handle the issue, and raise a new American Flag up to fly high over the Gardens. Speaking with Chief Pace, he said he was happy it was the type of service they could offer to the community,
Following the Flag Raising, LTC Lynn Hill Ret. addressed those gathered:
If you are in the area, drive through and you will notice all of the hard work. A good chance to see it firsthand could be on Easter Sunday morning. A sunrise service will be held there at 6:05 AM through the Cherokee County Ministerial Associations Holy Week Services. Pastor Keith Day will be speaking on the newly restored grounds.
