The Progress continues for the city of Gadsden with the launch of replacing the resident’s garbage cans, which have been in service for many years, with new cans with an updated city logo on them. Per the press release Mayor Craig Ford has this to say.
“The majority of our garbage cans have been in service for many years, and our Public Works Department spends a lot of time and money repairing cans that are broken, Rather than continuing to do that, we’re going to phase out all of our old garbage cans.”
“This is also part of our overall efforts to clean up Gadsden,” Ford added. “Having a brand new garbage can sitting by the curb instead of an old, beaten-up can is another small step towards improving our city’s appearance.”
Citizens will not have to take any action the cans will be swapped during the normal garbage route. According to the press release the city has invested $60,000 in the initiative, and the new garbage cans will start being rolled out on Monday. The process is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete.
