Gadsden Fire and Police Respond To Bio hazard Incident in North Gadsden

Gadsden Fire and Police responded to a Bio Hazard indecent in North Gadsden on Monday night. A Septic truck was involved in an accident near Dollar General on Highway 411 in the vicinity of  Tidmore Bend Road and Ewing Road.

The truck, which had been traveling South, lost control, possibly striking a ditch, and overturned, causing the hazardous contents to begin to leak. Engine 6, Rescue 1, Battalion B, Quint 4 and Hazmat 1 along with the Gadsden Police Department,  EMA, and Hare Wrecker responded to the accident.

Responding crews preformed an assessment of the scene, and provided needed medical care. The EMA notified the Alabama Department of Public Health of the accident.

The departments then began the task of containing, and limiting the spread of the material. The owner of the vehicle is responsible for the environmental clean up, and had crews out early this morning working on getting the scene cleaned.

The driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle, examined on scene, and determined to have no serious injuries.
