The latest Alabama Sports Writers Association high school basketball rankings were released early Thursday morning, and most area teams maintained their positions.
Both Spring Garden girls (24-1) and boys (20-0) remain on top of their respective Class 1A polls. In Class 2A, Sand Rock’s girls (16-5) and boys (14-8) hold steady at No. 3 and No. 6 respectively. Piedmont’s boys (11-5) remain at No. 8 in the Class 3A boys poll.
Cherokee County’s boys (8-5) were the only team to see movement this week. They dropped a notch to No. 10.
Three other area teams continue to receive consideration for the rankings: Cherokee County girls (17-2), Class 2A Cedar Bluff girls (12-6), and Class 3A Collinsville boys (12-5).
