Sand Rock boys capture 65-54 area basketball win at Pleasant Valley

PLEASANT VALLEY – Ty Traffanstedt tallied 19 points, including a 10-of-12 performance from the free-throw line, in leading the Sand Rock Wildcats to a 65-54 area basketball win at Pleasant Valley on Monday.

Traffanstedt also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out a pair of assists for the Wildcats (13-8). Cam Gifford contributed 11 points, five rebounds, five steals and two assists.

Jonas Browder netted nine points, including a pair of 3-pointers. He also had five rebounds and three assists. Will Cleere and Gatlin Cox also came away with nine points apiece. Cleere also had six rebounds, an assist and a steal. Cox added three boards and a steal. Wyatt Miller finished with six points, six rebounds, a steal and a block.

Hunter Sparks led the Raiders with 20 points. Braxton Salster added 11 points. Jaden Sparks netted nine points, including a pair of treys. Brody Barnwell also sank a pair of 3-pointers and finished with six points.

Sand Rock jumped out to a 21-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Wildcats led 28-17 at halftime and held a 48-34 advantage at the end of three quarters.

Sand Rock hosts Piedmont on Tuesday.
