Sand Rock girls capture 58-38 area basketball win over Cedar Bluff

SAND ROCK – Peyton Johnson netted 17 points and Maddie Clanton contributed 16 points in leading the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats to a 58-38 area girls basketball win over visiting Cedar Bluff on Tuesday.

Johnson also had four steals and Clanton grabbed eight rebounds for the Lady Wildcats (13-5).

Macey Pruitt posted seven points, six boards and five assists. Megan Smith and Kaylee Burns both finished with six points.

Janaya Higgins led the Lady Tigers (10-6) with 11 points, three steals, two assists and a block. Ciana Smith tossed in 10 points and grabbed seven boards. Kylie Vadon rang for eight points and had six rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block. Caley Bruce finished with seven points, five rebounds, three steals, an assist and a block.

Sand Rock jumped out to an 18-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 29-14 at halftime. The Lady Wildcats held a 48-21 edge at the end of three quarters.
