CEDAR BLUFF – Kylie Vadon connected on the game-winning layup with 8.6 seconds remaining, lifting the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers to a 48-46 area girls basketball win over Gaston on Tuesday.
The Lady Tigers (9-4, 2-1 Class 2A Area 13) trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half but came roaring back, capped off by Vadon’s layup.
Vadon finished with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block. Caley Bruce posted 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ciana Smith delivered seven points, four rebounds and three steals. Kija Gleen came away with five points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Amari Bowie led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points. Bella Holland had 10 points. Charlee Skaggs scored eight points. Shelby Waters added seven points, and Brooklyn Merriman finished with five points on five free-throw attempts.
The two teams battled to a 9-9 tie at the end of the first quarter. Gaston took a 25-16 lead into halftime and held a 38-31 edge after three quarters.
Cedar Bluff takes on Wadley in the Alabama ONE Cherokee Invitational at noon on Saturday at Centre Middle School.
