During the regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission on Monday, a resolution honoring the Spring Garden Volleyball Team for their Class 1A State Championship, was adopted. District 1 Commissioner Randy Jones read the resolution with the Team in attendance at the Meeting. Coach Ricky Austin thanked the Commission for the recognition.
The Commission approved the renewal of the County’s General Liability through the Association of County Commissions insurance fund. The renewal premium was $183,902.77 which was an increase of about $21,000 from the previous year. The property insurance program as approved with a 6 month renewal premium of $84,522.79. The 6 month payment is to get the due date in line with the re-insurance program.
A revised road acceptance criteria was approved by the commission. It was to change the wording dealing with pipe used for driveways and cross drains and to approve a hard plastic pipe rather than just corrugated metal.
It was announced three positions on the County Health Care Authority was expiring in January. The County is now accepting resumes and letters for fill those positions. These will be accepted at the Commission Office through Wednesday, January 8, 2025 until close of business. Chairman Burgess did tell the Commissioners the three currently serving has expressed a desire to remain on the Authority.
The Commission voted to go into Executive Session to discuss the purchase or sale of property. No action was taken on the matter.
The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission will be on January 13th, 2025 at 10am in the Commission Chambers.
