SPRING GARDEN – The Spring Garden Panthers opened their 2024-25 basketball season with a 74-40 victory over visiting Gaylesville on Monday.

John Welsh scored 19 points to lead the Panthers (1-0). Connor Bates added 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Noah Barber sank three treys and had 11 points. Jaylen Brown netted nine points. Zane Edwards and Jake Welsh both finished with eight points.

Collin Hendon and Daylen Dobbins both delivered 12 points for Gaylesville (1-6). Caden Angle finished with seven points.

Spring Garden jumped out to a 25-7 first quarter lead and held a 42-20 edge at halftime. The Panthers led 71-32 at the end of three quarters.

Spring Garden hosts Weaver on Tuesday. Gaylesville hosts Crossville.
