Alabama’s Mike Rogers Being Considered for White House Post

U.S. Representative Mike Rogers of Saks, is reportedly on the short list of candidates being considered by President-elect Donald Trump – to serve as Secretary of Defense.  Rogers is being considered, along with U.S. Representative Mike Waltz of Florida, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo – also – U.S. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

First elected back in 2002, Rogers in 2023 became the very first member of Congress from Alabama to chair the Armed Services Committee.  His east Alabama district includes the Anniston Army Depot – and is near Fort Moore – the Georgia military post once known as Fort Benning.

Rogers has stated “…our nation faces unprecedented threats from China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran; in order to deter these threats and remain the most feared force in the world – we must ensure our military focuses on lethality and capability,”

Trump endorsed Rogers for re-election – saying “as the first chairman of the House Armed Services Committee from Alabama, Mike is rebuilding our great military, fighting woke ideology, and defending our country,”
