Volleyball’s postseason begins this week with area tournaments scattered around the state. Tournament play opens Tuesday.
Pleasant Valley is the Class 2A Area 13 tournament host. The Lady Raiders take on Gaston at 5 p.m., followed by Cedar Bluff and Sand Rock at 6 p.m. The winners of those matches advance to the area championship match at 7 p.m.
The Class 3A Area 12 tournament will be Wednesday at Glencoe. Piedmont will take on the Lady Yellow Jackets at 4 p.m., followed by Westbrook Christian and Ohatchee at 5:30 p.m. The area championship match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Class 3A Area 13 tournament is also set for Wednesday at Geraldine. Collinsville takes on the Lady Bulldogs at 10 a.m., followed by Sylvania and Fyffe at noon. The area championship match is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Two more area tournaments are scheduled for Thursday.
Spring Garden will be hosting the Class 1A Area 12 tournament on Thursday. Gaylesville and Woodland is the opening match at 3 p.m. The winner will face Spring Garden in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Jacksonville Christian and Faith Christian face off in the other tournament semifinal at 5 p.m.
The Class 1A Area 12 tournament championship match is set for Thursday at 6 p.m.
Alexandria is hosting the Class 4A Area 12 tournament. The Lady Cubs will take on the winner of the 2 p.m. match between Anniston and Hokes Bluff at 5 p.m. Cherokee County and White Plains battle it out in the other tournament semifinal at 3:30 p.m.
The Class 4A Area 12 tournament championship match is set for Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.
Area winners and runners-up advance to next week’s North Super Regional, held at the Finley Center in Hoover.
