Gaylesville gives Verbena a game, but falls 36-24

VERBENA – The Gaylesville Trojans made the 2-hour, 20-minute trip to Chilton County to face Verbena on Friday night and gave the Red Devils a game, but the Red Devils rallied to take a 36-24 victory in non-region high school football action on Friday night.

Alex Baty led scored all four touchdowns for the Trojans (2-3), who held an 18-14 advantage at halftime before Verbena took the lead in the second half and improved to 5-0 on the season.

Gaylesville jumps back into Class 1A Region 8 action on Friday at Ider.
