On July 31st Marvin Osmer Chaves-Canales was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center. Chaves-Canales, age 41 is from Centre, Alabama but is original homeland is Honduras. He was arrested by the Centre Police Department and charged with Burglary 2nd degree and Rape 1st Degree. Chaves-Canales had an I.D. or passport to enter the United States. He also has a wife and a child that we’re living in Cherokee County at the time of his arrest. His employment was in construction as laborer. It is not known if his family entered the United States legally or if they have departed this area. According to the Centre Police Department,  On July 27, 2024. officers were called to a home where two women said a man had attacked one of them. They were able to stop the attack and he fled.
