Two Hospitalized Following Farm Accident Tuesday in Cherokee County

Units from McCord’s Fire Department, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Atrium–Floyd EMS, and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, were dispatched to an address on County Road 78 in the Mud Creek area to a report of a male victim trapped under a tractor just after 5:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Units learned while en-route that the victim was trapped under the rear tire of a back hoe, thanks to a video link established between Cherokee County 9-1-1 and the caller.

According to McCord’s Fire Chief Rich Lindsey, the fire department crews arrived on the scene and they quickly extricated the adult victim, before taking him by ambulance to Atrium Floyd Cherokee Medical Center in Centre with life threatening traumatic injuries.

Another patient was transported from the scene to Atrium Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia for non-trauma related medical treatment.

A medical helicopter was also initially called to the scene however didn’t transport a patient.

This incident occurred in a hay field – and it appears to have been a farm related accident.
