‘Finster-Fest’ Art Festival Event Set for Saturday and Sunday in North Georgia

Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden hosts its annual two-day Art Festival – “Finster-Fest” this Saturday and Sunday, September 21st and 22nd in the Pennville Community in Chattooga County, Georgia.   “Finster-Fest” will feature over 70 folk, craft and fine artists, doing music performances, dance performances – and special guest presentations, by authors and folk art experts.   In addition, patrons will experience the finest southern fare, a children’s art activity area – and of course the opportunity to tour Howard Finster’s famous folk art environment.

“Finster-Fest” features nationally recognized, self-taught artists, from 14 states.  Special speakers will include authors, an artist, and also a folk art expert.  That Festival will also present THREE performances, by Atlanta’s Beacon Dance, on Saturday the 21st.

Music performances will be headlined by Kevn Kinney, lead vocalist and guitarist of Drivin’ N Cryin’; Americana singer-songwriter, Abe Partridge, – and folk country singer-songwriter Caroline Herring.  The festival food focuses on southern fare, such as Mosley’s slow-smoked BBQ pork, ribs and chicken with all the trimmings, and more – and hours for the family-friendly festival are 10:00am until 5:00pm each day

Finster Fest launched back in 1991, and it draws guests from all over the Southeastern U.S. and Paradise Garden is also on the National Register of Historic Places.

Proceeds from the Finster Fest event help benefit the nonprofit Paradise Garden Foundation which operates and continues restoration of Howard Finster’s 4-acre plus Art Environment and Cultural Center.
