ARAB – Cherokee County High School senior quarter Carson Tittle helped the Warriors rebound from last week’s last-second loss to Piedmont on Friday.
Tittle completed 6 of 8 pass attempts for 26 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 57 yards on seven carries and had a score to lead the Warriors to a 42-21 football victory at Class 5A Arab.
Keyshawn Woods ran for 192 yards on 13 carries with two touchdowns. He got the Warriors (1-1) on the scoreboard first. Woods scored on a 17-yard run in the first quarter. The first of six Ben Frampton PATs was good, giving Cherokee County a 7-0 lead.
The Knights (1-1) responded to tie the game at 7 in the second quarter on Logan Alldredge’s 2-yard touchdown run. Alldredge led Arab with 178 yards on 34 carries with two scores.
Tittle accounted for two more Warrior touchdowns in the second quarter on runs of a yard and two yards, putting Cherokee County out in front 21-7.
The Knights scored again just before halftime on a Nic Stephens 37-yard touchdown pass to Noah Mann to make it a 21-14 game.
Tittle connected with Ben Moseley on a 29-yard touchdown toss to open the third-quarter scoring. Tae Diamond added a 1-yard touchdown run later in the quarter to push the Warrior lead to 35-14.
Alldredge accounted for another Arab score on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter to trim the Warrior edge to 35-21, but Woods put the game away on a 9-yard touchdown run later in the fourth quarter for the final.
Cherokee County opens Class 4A Region 6 play at Oneonta on Friday.
