Lady Warriors sweep Donoho, Sand Rock in Thursday volleyball action

CENTRE — The Cherokee County Lady Warriors opened their volleyball season Thursday with a home sweep of Donoho and Sand Rock. Cherokee County defeated Donoho 25-19, 25-17 and then beat Sand Rock 25-18, 27-25.
In the win over Donoho, Macy Lea collected 23 assists, seven digs and a kill. Lilly Shaw delivered four kills. Ava Haygood accumulated six kills, three digs, an ace, an assist and a block. Jolie Alexander added five kills, three aces and a dig. Libby Curry had a kill and an ace.
Ellisan Givens gained five digs and an assist. Nevaeh Gaidurgis contributed nine kills and five digs, and Jesslyn Hincy finished with four digs and an ace.
In the win over Sand Rock, Lea delivered 18 assists and a pair of aces. Shaw made three kills. Haygood collected four kills, an ace, a block and a dig. Alexander added two kills, three aces and a dig.
Curry came away with a kill. Givens posted six digs and Gaidurgis earned 11 kills, two aces, a dig and an assist.
Cherokee County plays in the Geraldine Tournament on Saturday.
