Suspect Arrested by Ider Police Armed with Weapon and Carrying Drugs

Ider, Alabama Police arrested a Rainsville man after officers say that he ran after they spotted him walking toward Mayo’s Food Mart with a knife in his hand.  According to Chief Stephen Malone, when officers asked that man what he was doing, he cursed them and ran into the woods.

Multiple agencies assisted in setting up a perimeter and helped to locate the man; he’d been tased, because he kept trying to flee and to also resist officers.

After he was secured, Police found digital scales with methamphetamine in his possession.

Kenneth Knight, 35, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, Attempting to Elude, Disorderly Conduct, the Failure to Appear – and on a Hold for Another Agency.

“I want to personally say just how proud that I am – of all of my officers – for being proactive – and so alert in patrolling our community” and Chief Malone added:  “Simply being observant, and vigilant could have stopped someone from being hurt – and also, it stopped further crime from being committed.”
