Alabama ONE Makes Two Additional Strategic Changes within its Leadership TEAM

Alabama ONE is excited to announce two additional strategic moves within the Alabama ONE Leadership TEAM. These Leadership changes continue to strengthen the already solid financial institution foundation that has transitioned Alabama ONE into a ONE-billion dollar plus asset, multi-market, multi-region Credit Union that serves over 90,000 plus Members in 58 of 67 Alabama counties. These key Leadership promotions recognize these individuals’ hard work, leadership, and dedication to Alabama ONE that ensures that Alabama ONE provides the very best products and services to our Members throughout the great state of Alabama.

Whitney Oswalt appointed Chief Strategy Officer (CSO)

Tuscaloosa, AL: Alabama ONE announced Whitney Oswalt has been appointed to the new role as Chief Strategy Officer and will continue to report to CEO, Bill Wells. Previously, Oswalt served as the Chief Financial Officer. Oswalt was hired at Alabama ONE in 2012 bringing a tremendous amount of work experience to Alabama ONE. Oswalt has led the successful strategy of acquiring five institutions over the past four years. Oswalt will continue to foster Alabama ONE’s strong partnership with the twenty-three Rural Electric Cooperative Associations operating throughout Alabama.

Oswalt’s new role will allow him to focus his attention on continuing Alabama ONE’s expansion strategies in new markets across the state. Alabama ONE’s four Area Executives, who oversee all market operations report to CSO Oswalt, as well as the Accounting, Treasury Services, Strategic Analysis, Wealth Advisory, and Credit Card areas. “Whitney has been instrumental in identifying strategic market partners for Alabama ONE. I am so excited for Whitney taking on this new role for us.” says Wells.

Oswalt said, “I am very proud of what our TEAM at Alabama ONE has accomplished over the last four years in our initial expansion. I am grateful for the opportunity the Board and Bill have opened for me to further focus with our TEAM in the next chapter of Alabama ONE’s growth. Rural development and fostering rural Alabama communities is a passion of mine and I am excited about the opportunities that await Alabama ONE in the near future.”

Matt Turner appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Tuscaloosa, AL: Alabama ONE announced Matt Turner has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer and will continue to report to CSO Oswalt. Turner had served as Alabama ONE’s Senior Director of Treasury & Strategic Analysis and was hired at Alabama ONE in 2018 working as a Certified Public Accountant with a regional accounting firm. Turner has been instrumental in building the financial practices, internal controls, reporting, and processes within Alabama ONE. Turner also leads the strategic planning and budgeting efforts. Accounting, Treasury Services, and the Credit Card area will still report to Turner.

Turner’s new role will give him, and his TEAM, the ability to help shape, direct and strengthen Alabama ONE’s financial stability as the institution continues to grow throughout the state of Alabama. Wells said, “Matt has just done an outstanding job for Alabama ONE since joining our TEAM. He was a key hire for us early on and has helped us ensure our financial safety, stability, soundness and remained strong while we grew rapidly over these past four years. His role is to keep our financial house in order.”

Turner said, “It’s an honor to have been a part of Alabama ONE’s tremendous growth during my six years here. I work with an incredible TEAM and look forward to continuing the credit union’s growth and future success in my new role.”
