Road Closures in Rome THIS Week; Exercise CAUTION

A portion of Turner McCall Boulevard, located in Rome, Georgia – will be closed during the evening hours throughout this week for relocation of a water main as part of the Second Avenue improvement project.

The closure will not impact the DAILY COMMUTE for drivers – however – closures WILL AFFECT drivers out after 9:00pm – close to Atrium Health Floyd.  The intersection with Martha Berry Boulevard will remain open.

All vehicles traveling toward Downtown Rome from Shorter Avenue will detour – using Second Avenue to West Third, over to Fifth Avenue; traffic on Turner McCall Boulevard DETOURS at North Fifth Avenue – then, over to Martha Berry Boulevard; all westbound commercial traffic MUST use New Calhoun Highway to Veterans Memorial Highway and the eastbound commercial traffic must use Redmond Circle to New Calhoun Highway.

That area of construction during that nightly planned closure IS within a small footprint – that extends from the area of the hospital parking deck at Bojangles’ west to the intersection with Martha Berry.

Road Work to Impact Visitors to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center

Those closures will change how some drivers access Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center’s Emergency Room and Family Birth Center.  Ambulatory patients needing care at the Emergency Care Center and also all laboring mothers seeking to enter the Family Birth Center, are ALL encouraged to access those areas from North Second Avenue.

They can also access those areas from Keelway Drive – which runs by the hospital’s parking deck on the north side of Turner McCall Boulevard.
