According to Brandon Bailey – of the Alabama State Troopers Post which is headquartered in Decatur – a single vehicle accident claimed the life of a Boaz man at 10:35, on Tuesday morning (April 9th) in DeKalb County.
Involved in that crash, was 75 year old Mickey Echols, who was critically injured when a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving left the roadway and struck a culvert. After the initial impact that vehicle went airborne – and then overturned multiple times. Echols was not using a seat belt at the time of that crash, and was partially ejected.
Echols was transported to Marshall Medical Center South, where he then succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead; the crash occurred on Alabama 68, near DeKalb County 362, approximately six miles west of Crossville, in DeKalb County.
Nothing further is available – as the Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
