COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers swept a baseball doubleheader from visiting Sylvania on Monday. The scores were 5-0 and 7-2.
In the first game, Zach Clanton went 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Jeremiah Killian also contributed a pair of hits. Mason McAteer added a hit and a RBI. Will Edmondson and Jake Middlebrooks also finished with a hit. Cooper Coker and Shaun Stewart both came away with a walk and a run. Gavin Lang drew a walk.
Lange also earned the win on the mound. He pitched four innings and gave up three hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Tytan Morgan tossed three innings of one-hit ball with a walk and five strikeouts.
In the second game, Lang, Killian and McAteer each had a pair of hits. One of Lang’s hits was a triple. He also walked twice, scored twice and had two RBIs. Killian doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs. McAteer scored a run and drove in another.
Justin Pruitt posted a double and a RBI. Edmondson collected a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. Sylas Adams and Lucas McDaniel both had a hit and scored a run. McDaniel also drew a walk.
Clanton picked up the win. He tossed four innings and surrendered an earned runs on two hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Edmondson worked three innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts.
Collinsville takes on Valley Head in the DeKalb County Tournament at Ider on Friday at 3 p.m.
