Lady Warriors win Hixson (Tenn.) Wildcat Classic softball tournament

HIXSON, Tenn. – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors went 6-0 to win the Hixson (Tenn.) Wildcat Classic softball tournament on Saturday. They defeated Chattanooga Central 13-0, Rhea County 6-2, Piedmont 4-0, Girls Preparatory School 6-2, Farragut 5-1 and Alcoa 3-2 in the championship game.

In the win over Chattanooga Central, Emma Hill and Abby Lea combined to toss a no-hitter through three innings. Hill tossed two innings, walked one and struck out four. Lea worked an inning with three strikeouts.

Lanie Williams and Audrey Haygood both went 3-for-3 at the plate. Williams scored twice and had a RBI. Haygood had four RBIs and scored once.

Anna Walker went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and a RBI. Hill was 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs. Macy Lea also went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run and two RBIs.

Grayson Tucker doubled scored two runs and had two RBIs. Raechel Russell, Emma Eberhart and Samantha Stubbs each contributed a hit and scored a run. Abby Lea finished with a hit.

In the win over Rhea County, Hill had a pair of hits, a run and a RBI. Abby Lea and Russell both contributed a hit, a run and a RBI. Williams had a hit and drove in a run. Haygood walked, scored a run and drove in another. Stubbs and Macy Lea both scored a run apiece. Walker drove in a run.

Abby Lea picked up the win. She worked three innings and gave up a hit, a walk and had six strikeouts. Tucker and Hill both worked an inning. Tucker allowed three hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts. Hill surrendered a hit and had a strikeout.

In the win over Piedmont, Hill earned the win and led the Lady Warriors at the plate. She tossed six innings of one-hit ball with two walks and six strikeouts. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a run and a RBI.

Abby Lea doubled and drove in three runs. Walker and Haygood both had a hit and scored a run. Williams contributed a hit and Aubrie Abernathy finished with a walk and scored a run.

Against the Girls Preparatory School, Russell posted a pair of hits, including a triple. She also scored twice and drove in a run.

Walker also tripled, scored drove in a run. Haygood doubled and scored a run. Williams added a hit, a run and a RBI. Hill had a hit and a RBI. Macy Lea and Eberhart both contributed a hit. Abby Lea scored a run.

Abby Lea also earned the win after working three innings of no-hit ball. She walked one and struck out one. Hill worked two innings and gave up an earned run on three hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Against Farragut, Abby Lea led the Lady Warriors at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Eberhart also had a pair of hits and a pair of runs. Walker added a hit and a RBI. Russell, Macy Lea and Haygood all finished with a hit and scored a run.

Hill earned the win after six innings. She surrendered an earned run on seven hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts.

Against Alcoa in the championship game, the Lady Warriors made the most of their three hits. Eberhart doubled, scored a run and drove in one. Abby Lea also had a hit and a RBI. Haygood contributed a hit. Russell and Macy Lea scored a run apiece. Williams drove in a run.

Hill earned the win after working two innings. She allowed an earned run on a hit with no walks and four strikeouts. Abby Lea tossed four innings and gave up an earned run on nine hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
