Gaylesville announces contingency plan for Cherokee Softball Invitational

Staff Reports

GAYLESVILLE – Gaylesville School announced Thursday afternoon a contingency plan for the Cherokee Softball Invitational in case of rain on Friday.

If Friday is rained out, officials plan to play the tournament on Saturday. Teams will be put in pool play. After pool play, teams will be seeded in a single-elimination bracket by wins, runs allowed, or runs scored.

Gaylesville will not play pool play and will automatically be the ninth seed, being the only team that is guaranteed one game. All other teams will be guaranteed at least two games.

Pool play games for Saturday morning include 8 a.m. contests between Etowah at Cedar Bluff and Fyffe vs. Spring Garden at Gaylesville. The 9:30 a.m. contests will be Cherokee County vs. Glencoe at Cedar Bluff and Valley Head vs. Sand Rock at Gaylesville.

Adequate time will be applied if teams have to travel to Gaylesville or Cedar Bluff after pool play or the first round of bracket play. All other games, including the championship, are at Gaylesville. The championship game is scheduled for approximately 7 p.m.

All games will have a 75-minute time limit. The tournament championship will NOT have a time limit unless agreed upon by both head coaches.

Admission is still $8.
