Piedmont softball stuns Sand Rock with four runs in the bottom of the seventh

PIEDMONT – Piedmont scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 4-3 softball win over visiting Sand Rock on Monday.

Cayla Brothers led the Lady Bulldogs at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Amiyah Thomas and Kaeyln Green both doubled. Green also scored a run.

Cacey Brothers added a hit and two RBIs. Amarae Champion and Savannah Smith both added a hit and scored a run. Eliza Mathis finished with a hit.

Smith earned the win after going the distance. She gave up an earned run on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Katelyn St.Clair led Sand Rock at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Aliyah King doubled, scored a run and had a RBI. Molly Lay also doubled and scored a run. Emma Sipsy added a hit and a run. Aubie Camp also contributed a hit.

Macy Martin suffered the loss after working 4 1/3 innings. She gave up two earned runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Alyvia McMichen tossed two innings of no-hit ball with two walks and a strikeout.

Sand Rock travels to Gaston on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Piedmont is at Wellborn on Thursday at 5 p.m.
