FLOOD WARNING!! The Chattooga River Above Weiss Lake

Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Birmingham Issued a Flood Warning for The Chattooga River and surrounding areas above Weiss Lake from 1:18 pm today until 1:15 am Sunday, March 10th.

Flooding caused by recent heavy rainfall is ongoing along portions of the Chattooga River above Weiss Lake in Cherokee County.

Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – At 118 PM CST, Reporting gauges indicate elevated levels along the Chattooga River Above Weiss Lake. This will cause lowland flooding along the Chattooga River Above Weiss Lake. – Some locations that will experience flooding include… Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville, Cornwall Furnace Park, Eastern Weiss Lake and Western Weiss Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
