Arrest Made in Piedmont Theft Case

More information has been released, regarding a theft which occurred at Piedmont High School on February 24th (2024).    Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson says that a suspect has been apprehended – and charged in connection with the case.

On February 24th, several members of the Piedmont Police Department, responded to a call at Piedmont High School, at 750 Tom Bible Memorial Highway, regarding a reported case of burglary and theft.

The initial investigation revealed damage to the gate at the football field and also the theft of a blue golf cart.  Further examination of surveillance footage soon resulted in a rather long list of stolen items including a pair of blue basketball shoes, a large gray trash can, a Black and Decker leaf blower, a Kobalt leaf blower and more.

Police and school staff worked collaboratively to study that surveillance footage and investigators were able to identify a suspect in the case, with a search warrant then being executed at the residence of Ronald Shawn Bailey, age 33 of Piedmont.

March 7th (2024), Piedmont Police Officers arrested Bailey on charges of Burglary 3rd Degree and also Theft of Property 1st Degree. Following that arrest – Bailey was transported to the Piedmont City Jail – where he was booked and held until his eventual transfer to the Calhoun County Jail. Currently being held on a $30,000 bond, Bailey awaits a Preliminary Hearing scheduled for April 1st, 2024, scheduled for 1:30pm, in Calhoun County District Court.
