Five-run fourth lifts Gaylesville past Cedar Bluff in Cherokee County Baseball Tournament

SPRING GARDEN – Alex Baty held his former team to just two hits. He allowed two unearned runs, walked five and struck out eight in leading the Gaylesville Trojans to a 5-2 win over Cedar Bluff in the Cherokee County Baseball Tournament at Spring Garden on Wednesday.

Gaylesville, which improved to 8-0 on the season with the win, scored all five of its runs in the top of the fourth inning. Kyler Bradley and Jack Sentell both had RBI hits. Kuper Bradley also had a hit. Hunter Allmond and Karrson Ray drove in a run apiece. Baty, Allmond, Sentell, Collin Hendon and Braden Sharp scored the Trojan runs. Allmond, Ray and Hendon each drew a walk.

Bryson Teague and Samson Mallett had the lone Cedar Bluff hits. Hunter Stallings walked twice and scored a run. Isaac Bishop walked, scored a run and drove in one. Caleb Edmondson, Jacob Chambers and Kaden Pack each drew a walk.

Edmondson suffered the loss after working three innings. He gave up five runs (none earned) on one hit with three walks and six strikeouts. Teague tossed four innings of two-hit ball with four strikeouts.

Gaylesville advances to face defending county champion Spring Garden on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the tournament semifinals. Cherokee County battles Sand Rock in the other tournament semifinal at 5 p.m.
