Warriors open baseball season with win over Cedar Bluff

CENTRE – The Cherokee County Warriors scored eight runs in the bottom of the third inning, propelling them to a 12-2 baseball season-opening win in five innings over visiting Cedar Bluff on Thursday.

Jackson Aultman went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a RBI. Jace Turner was 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two runs and four RBIs. Cooper Rodgers collected a hit, a run and two RBIs. Garrett McRay doubled and scored a run.

Jeb Crane and Parker Wilson both drew three walks. Crane scored twice and Wilson scored and drove in a run. Benjamin Elsberry walked and scored a run. Nate Black scored a run and drove in another. Luke Young scored a run.

McRay earned the win on the mound after working 3 1/3 innings. He gave up three hits and two walks and had four strikeouts.

Wilson worked 1 2/3 inning. He gave up two earned runs on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Bryson Teague led the Tigers at the plate by going 2-for-2. Kaden Pack was 1-for-2 with a walk and a RBI. Jacob Chambers collected a hit and a walk. Caleb Edmondson contributed a hit.

Hunter Stallings and Samson Mallett both walked and scored a run. Isaac Bishop drove in a run.
