PIEDMONT – Colton Proctor posted 21 points, including five 3-pointers, in leading the Piedmont Bulldogs to a 71-35 victory over Wellborn in the Class 3A, Area 11 boys basketball tournament on Saturday.

Taylon Swain tallied 12 points for the Bulldogs. Ben Dempsey delivered 10 points. Chance Murphy scored seven points. Jaylen Brown and Cole Wilson finished with six and five points respectively.

Ollie Boot led Wellborn with 10 points. Jackson Long rang for seven points. Chris and Ray Williams both had six points. Avery Odom finished with five points.

Piedmont held an 18-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs built a 30-18 advantage at halftime and held a 38-28 edge after three quarters.

Piedmont hosts Weaver in the area championship game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Weaver defeated Saks 62-50 in the other tournament semifinal on Saturday.
