Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Joyce Cole, 86, of Piedmont will be Thursday,
February 01, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Gary
McCurdy and Brady Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont
Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home
Thursday from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Cole passed away Monday, January
29, 2024 at her home. Survivors include her chosen sister, Elsie
Anderson Burns; chosen niece, Marilyn Hudson (Ken); nephew, David Cole
(Christy); great-nieces, Allyce Cole Hudgins and Cailee Cole Herrington;
great-great-niece, Magnolia Christine Herrington; other nieces and
nephews; and her precious fur baby, Coco. Pallbearers will be Ken
Hudson, Houston Hudgins, Tanner Herrington, David Cole, Levi Hatcher and
Chris Hill. Mrs. Cole was a lifelong resident of Piedmont and retired
from Farmers and Merchants Bank with many years of service. She was a
member of the Piedmont Church of Christ, was an avid Alabama football
fan and enjoyed her retirement. Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her
husband of 55 years, Garvin Cole; her daughter, Regina Ann Cole; and her
parents, Albert “Bud” and Irene Kirk. Flowers may be sent or
memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or
to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s
