A murder inmate that was serving a life sentence died Wednesday in an Alabama prison after “exhibiting erratic behavior,” the state Department of Corrections stated on Thursday.
DeMarcus McCloud, age 45, entered the Limestone Correctional Facility’s dining hall “exhibiting erratic behavior, and he then reportedly had to be subdued by officers,” McCloud – who had committed murder in Calhoun County – was taken to the prison’s health care unit for an assessment. After that assessment he became unresponsive; life-saving measures were attempted but were all unsuccessful.
McCloud was declared dead by an attending physician at the prison. The inmate’s death is now being investigated by the Alabama Department of Corrections – a cause of death is pending an autopsy – and the conclusion of the probe.
