In Loving Memory of Nilmarg Peek Conner
Mrs. Nilmarg Peek Conner, a cherished mother, grandmother, and devoted friend, left this world to join her heavenly family on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the age of 83. Her earthly journey began in the same place it ended — in Centre, Alabama.
She was born to William “Bill” Jackson Peek and Ethel Vivian Williams on February 20, 1940. Her arrival was marked with creativity and love, evident in her unique name, Nilmarg, which lovingly crafted for her when her parents reversed the name of Dr. Gramlin, the Obstetrics Gynecologist who delivered her.
Nilmarg’s life was defined by love, commitment, and faith. She found her soul mate in William Whittington Conner, with whom she shared decades of blissful marriage until his passing in 2014. Her heart also bore the weight of loss with the passing of her beloved daughter, Cindy Kaye, in 2019. Her parents, brothers J.C., Billy Joe, Troy Peek, and sister Clare Nell Palmer, also preceded her in death.
Those who continue to cherish her memory include her loving son, Jackie Lamar Conner (Annie), her adoring grandchildren, Brandon Seymore, Jordan Meyer, and Michael Chaffin, and her sister Brenda Kovach (Steve).
Nilmarg’s faith was the cornerstone of her life as a lifelong Baptist. Her generous spirit extended beyond her family; she was a pillar in her community, touching lives through over thirty years of service at Center Manufacturing and later as a compassionate caretaker in local nursing homes and assisted care facilities. Her love for the Atlanta Braves and the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide was matched only by her
dedication to her faith and family.
Upon retirement, Nilmarg devoted her time to her family and the service of the Lord, embodying the virtues of care and compassion until her final days.
The family invites loved ones to join them in a celebration of Nilmarg’s life. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165.
Nilmarg will be laid to rest at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, 2549
Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165, with her nephews serving as pallbearers. Pastor Jeff Chambers of Noah Baptist Church will officiate the ceremony.
Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
