ANNISTON– A Calhoun County man known as “Poo Nanny” will spend more than 10 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine.

U.S. District Judge Corey L. Maze sentenced Quinton Montral Gunn, 45, to 126 months in prison. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama announced the sentence. Gunn pleaded guilty in May to three counts of distributing methamphetamine.

According to federal court documents, investigators arranged three controlled purchases through a confidential source during 2023 and 2024. First, the source met Gunn at Parkwin Kitchen on Sept. 7, 2023. Investigators said Gunn sold two ounces of methamphetamine for $500.

Then, on Oct. 6, 2023, the source met Gunn at a location on Parkin Avenue. During that transaction, Gunn sold three ounces of methamphetamine for $675, according to the release.

Finally, the source met Gunn at his Anniston residence on Sept. 30, 2024. Investigators said Gunn sold another three ounces of methamphetamine for $450.

Federal officials cite public-safety impact

U.S. Attorney Phillip W. Williams Jr. said dealers who “plague our streets with methamphetamine” endanger communities and families. Moreover, he said federal prosecutors and law enforcement agencies will continue holding illegal drug dealers accountable.

Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge John P. Scott called the 126-month sentence a “blunt warning” to other methamphetamine dealers. In addition, Scott said federal agents will continue pursuing people who distribute illegal drugs.

The DEA investigated the case with the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany T. Byrd prosecuted the case.

Federal officials also placed the prosecution under Operation Take Back America. The national Justice Department initiative coordinates resources against illegal immigration, cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime.
