Outbuilding Fire Catches House on Fire Monday

Outbuilding Fire Catches House on Fire

Three Cherokee County fire departments – Spring Creek, Centre and McCord’s Crossroads were dispatched Monday afternoon to reports of an outbuilding blaze.

That structure was located at a residence on County Road 531 – near the Alabama Bell.   Firefighters battled the blaze and strong winds.   The blaze soon spread to the house, threatened a propane tank and also caused damage to a neighbor’s property.

Jamey Walker, the Spring Creek Fire Chief informed WEIS Radio News that things looked suspicious, SO he called in the County’s Fire Investigator to try to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Chief Walker stated that when they arrived on the scene, no one was at the residence – but when the property owner arrived, he told the Chief there had been no electric service to the property in quite a while.

We’ll have more on this story as information is made available.
