One Hurt in Two Vehicle Accident Involving 18 Wheeler Friday in Cherokee County / UPDATE

A two-vehicle wreck, involving an 18-wheeler as well as a dump truck, occurred in Cherokee County just prior to 3:00pm Friday.

According to Alabama State Troopers the crash involved a 2020 Mack “Granite” Truck and a 2020 Freightliner.  The Mack Truck ended up on its side and the driver – a male from Summerville – was taken by ambulance to Atrium Medical Center in Georgia – and the driver of the big rig, listed as a male from Gadsden, was shaken up in the accident, but fortunately not injured.  That Mack truck was loaded with sand, and it took considerable time to clean up the spill left on the road.

That crash, which occurred on Alabama Highway 9, near County Road 115, remains under the investigation of the Alabama State Troopers.

The roadway, which had been down to one lane, was cleared up and re-opened at approximately 5:30 that afternoon.  The Cherokee County EMA, the Gaylesville and Cedar Bluff Fire Departments and Cedar Bluff Police, provided assistance in that case.
