ALEXANDRIA – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors finished runner-up to Oxford in the Champions Play Here volleyball tournament in Alexandria on Saturday.

The Lady Warriors (9-6) went 3-2 on the day. They finished first in their pool and second overall. In pool play, Cherokee County lost to Donoho 25-18, 14-25, 8-15, but then rebounded to win three straight against West End (26-24, 25-22), Ohatchee (25-18, 25-23) and Coosa Christian (25-8, 25-13).

In the tournament finals, the Lady Warriors fell against Oxford 18-25, 19-25.

For the day, Macy Lea collected 70 assists, three aces, nine kills, three blocks and 12 digs. Raegan Garmany delivered 19 kills and two blocks. Ava Haygood accumulated 21 kills, 30 digs, six aces and two blocks. Libby Curry came away with 15 kills, two aces and six digs. Nevaeh Gaidurgis contributed 36 kills, 11 digs, five blocks, 10 aces and five assists. Ellisan Givens finished with 49 digs, five assists and a kill.
