Latest Cherokee County Law Enforcement Spotlight – Deputy Tracy Nelson

The new Cherokee County Alabama Law Enforcement Spotlight, is on School Resource Officer, Deputy Tracy Nelson.

“I began my law enforcement career in wildlife conservation in 1990, mostly because of my passion for the outdoors.  I worked in conservation for 25 years and then retired.  After being out of law enforcement for a couple of years, I then decided to come to work for the sheriff’s office to be a part of helping keep Cherokee County a safe place to live.  One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is – when you meet someone either as an officer or in everyday life always try to leave that person in a better way than when you encountered them.  Another way of saying that would be ‘always treat people the way you’d want to be treated if you were in their position’.

My advice to the people of Cherokee County would be to get to know your neighbors and try to get along with each other.  This is a really big County and we all need to look out for – and help one another.  My favorite part of the job is interacting with the citizens in Cherokee County.  We have some really wonderful people living in this county.”

Help us to celebrate SRO Deputy Tracy Nelson, and take time to show him tremendous appreciation for all that he does!
