Warriors earn 8-3 baseball win at Spring Garden

SPRING GARDEN – The Cherokee County Warriors scored four runs in the top of the second inning, propelling them to an 8-3 baseball win at Spring Garden on Tuesday.

Connor Wilson homered, walked, scored a pair of runs and drove in two to lead the Warriors (2-4). Corbin Battles was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and a RBI. Carson Tittle and Parker Wilson both went 2-for-4. Tittle doubled, scored a run and had a RBI.

Luke Young, Cooper Rodgers and Malachi Horton each contributed a hit. Young had a RBI. Rodgers scored twice and Horton once. Beck McKinney walked.

Garrett McRay earned the win after tossing six innings. He gave up one earned run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Jackson Aultman tossed an inning of hitless ball with two strikeouts.

Reece Winstead suffered the loss for the Panthers (0-1). He worked four innings and gave up three earned runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Winstead was also 1-for-4 at the plate with a run.

Braxton Haney, Cam Welsh and John Welsh also contributed a hit each for the Panthers. Haney drove in a run. Cam and Jake Welsh both walked. Chapel Pope and Connor Bates both scored a run.
