Third-ranked Oakwood outlasts No. 6 Spring Garden boys 38-32

SPRING GARDEN – In a battle of ranked teams in boys basketball sub-regional action on Tuesday, third-ranked Oakwood Adventist Academy held on for a 38-32 victory over No. 6 Spring Garden.

Jayden Nesbitt led the Mustangs with 10 points. Ty Allen added eight points. David Still managed seven points and Eleazar Williams finished with six points.

Jake Welsh topped Spring Garden with 15 points. John Welsh rang for nine points. Jon Marq Rogers finished with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

The game was close throughout. The two teams were tied at 8 after a quarter, but the Mustangs managed to build a 23-18 advantage at halftime. They maintained their five-point edge at the end of the third quarter, 32-27.

Oakwood advances to the Northeast Regional at Jacksonville State University’s Pete Mathews Coliseum on Monday, where they’ll face Faith Christian in the regional semifinals. Faith Christian defeated Ragland 81-68 in other sub-regional action on Tuesday.

Spring Garden’s season ends at 19-8.
