Piedmont boys win 3-point shootout with Sand Rock, 99-90

PIEDMONT – The 3-pointers were flying between the Sand Rock Wildcats and Piedmont Bulldogs on Thursday night. Both teams sank 11 in the game, but when the dust settled, Piedmont managed to hold on for a 99-90 victory.

Alex Odom led the Class 3A, No. 6 Bulldogs (18-4) with 38 points. Cole Wilson came away with 28 points. Rollie Pinto finished with 16 points.

Kaden Justice rang for 31 points for the Wildcats (15-9). He also grabbed six rebounds. Jacob StClair collected 28 points and 10 assists. Ben Dale delivered 13 points and five boards. Bradley Jackson finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Piedmont held a 22-20 advantage after one, but Sand Rock rallied to take a 48-42 halftime lead. The Wildcats maintained a 72-65 edge after three quarters. Piedmont went on a 34-18 run in the fourth for the final.

In the girls game, Sand Rock’s Katelyn StClair and Jacey Stephens both sank five 3-pointers in leading the Lady Wildcats to a 60-56 girls basketball win at Piedmont on Thursday.

Katelyn StClair collected 20 total points with three steals, two assists, a block and a rebound for the Lady Wildcats (14-12). Stephens came away with 15 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Zoey Handy also scored 15 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out three assists, had two steals and blocked a shot. Kennedy Henderson finished with six points, nine rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal.

Sand Rock hosts Sylvania on Tuesday.
