Garden girls sink 16 treys in Cherokee County Tournament semifinal rout of Sand Rock

CENTRE – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers sank 16 3-pointers at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena on Friday in an 80-48 rout of Sand Rock in Cherokee County Girls Basketball Tournament semifinal action.

Kayley Kirk connected on six of those treys and finished with 22 points to lead the Lady Panthers. Ace Austin added three 3-pointers and had 17 points. Maggie Jarrett also managed three treys and had 13 points. Chloe Rule rang for 12 points. Libby Brown also contributed three 3-pointers and had 11 points. Olivia Law finished with five points, including a trey.

Jacey Stephens connected on four 3-pointers and had 12 points. Kennedy Henderson also had 12 points. Katelyn StClair added a pair of treys and had 10 points. Zoey Handy finished with six points.

Spring Garden jumped out on a 10-0 run and led 29-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Panthers held a 48-27 advantage at halftime. They led 73-40 after three quarters.

With the win, the Lady Panthers advance to Saturday’s championship game against Cherokee County. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Cherokee County 75, Cedar Bluff 18

CENTRE – It wasn’t quite as many 3-pointers as Spring Garden had on Friday, but the Cherokee County Lady Warriors did drain 11 treys in a 75-18 rout of Cedar Bluff.

Raechel Russell led the way for the Lady Warriors with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Mary Hayes Johnson netted 13 points, including three treys. Nevaeh Gaidurgis gained12 points. Audrey Haygood had eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Janaya Higgins topped Cedar Bluff with eight points.

The Lady Warriors held a 26-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 46-8 at halftime.
