COLLINSVILLE – Gavin Lang sank seven 3-pointers and had 21 points while Colton Wills connected on three treys and finished with 27 points to lead the Collinsville Panthers to a 58-46 season-opening basketball win over visiting Asbury on Thursday evening.
Collinsville trailed 21-14 at the end of the first quarter before taking a 26-24 advantage into halftime. The Panthers extended their lead to 45-34 after three quarters.
Caleb Gentry led the Rams with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Landon Bethune added 14 points and Jayven McCoy finished with nine points.
In girls action, Collinsville fell to Asbury 43-30. Sophie Wills led the Lady Panthers with 13 points. Rylee Tillery tallied six points on a pair of treys. Nayeli Mata finished with five points.
Sheyla Pacheco topped the Lady Rams with 16 points. Lilly Partrick posted 13 points. Vanessa Cruze and Daisy Zurita both finished with five points.
Asbury led at each of the quarter breaks. The Lady Rams held an 11-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter then extended their lead to 26-11 at halftime. Asbury held a 37-22 edge at the end of three quarters.
Collinsville travels to Gaylesville on Friday evening.
