One of Three Injured in Last Week’s Collision Between Passenger Car and Cement Truck – Has Died / UPDATE

According to the Alabama State Troopers Post in Decatur, one of the three people hurt in a collision occurring last Thursday between a passenger vehicle and a cement truck just outside of Gaylesville – has died.

The collision took place on Highway 68 near County Road 107 shortly after 1:00pm – and involved a 2014 model concrete mixer, and a 2007 Ford; the cement truck rolled over onto its side, coming to rest in a ditch and the other vehicle, a Taurus, wound up in a yard on the opposite side of the road.

The driver of the cement truck was listed on the accident report as a male resident of Guntersville while the driver of the Ford was listed as a male from Dawson, Alabama; and according to ALEA, the 82 year old driver of that vehicle has passed away. due to  injuries sustained in that wreck.  No additional information has been made available regarding the passenger in the car or the truck driver – both of whom were taken for treatment following the wreck.

Emergency personnel from a number of departments responded to the scene – along with Alabama State Troopers.

That stretch of road was closed in both directions for several hours, as state troopers attempted to reconstruct the accident,  It was finally re-opened to traffic around 5:00 that afternoon.
